Jazan University Absence (Hirman) Calculator

See how many lectures you can still miss before you are barred from the exam.

This university's limit: 20% of the course's lectures. Deprived when absence across all course activities exceeds 20%, or 10% for clinical activity, without an excuse accepted by the college council. Deprived student gets zero in the final exam, grade (ح)/DN, and fails the course.

How it is calculated

Lectures per week are multiplied by the weeks of the term to get the course total. The limit is that total multiplied by the allowed percentage, rounded down. What is left is the limit minus your absences so far.

This calculator treats the percentage as the most you may miss: reaching it exactly is still allowed, going past it means being barred from the final exam. Some regulations bar a student on reaching the percentage — read the wording of your own and keep one lecture in hand.

Worked example

20% of 45 contact hours = 9.0 hours; 12 absent hours exceeds the limit.

What is being barred for absence (الحرمان, hirman)?

Hirman means you are barred from a course's final exam because your absences passed the limit in your university's regulations. The limit is a percentage of the course's lectures; what happens to the course afterwards is set by those regulations.
