Absence and Attendance Calculator

See how many lectures you can still miss before you are barred from the exam.

25% is the limit most universities use, not a rule we have confirmed for yours. Change it if your regulations say otherwise.

How it is calculated

Lectures per week are multiplied by the weeks of the term to get the course total. The limit is that total multiplied by the allowed percentage, rounded down. What is left is the limit minus your absences so far.

This calculator treats the percentage as the most you may miss: reaching it exactly is still allowed, going past it means being barred from the final exam. Some regulations bar a student on reaching the percentage — read the wording of your own and keep one lecture in hand.

Worked example

3 lectures a week for 15 weeks is 45 lectures. 25% of 45 is 11.25, so you may miss 11. The 12th absence puts you over the limit.

What is being barred for absence (الحرمان, hirman)?

Hirman means you are barred from a course's final exam because your absences passed the limit in your university's regulations. The limit is a percentage of the course's lectures; what happens to the course afterwards is set by those regulations.
