GPA to Percentage Converter (5.0 and 4.0)
Convert your GPA course by course, with the failed-course catch explained.
Conversions here use King Saud University's grade table, which publishes the points of every grade on both scales.
How it is calculated
The GPA is recalculated from your courses on each scale: every grade is given its points on that scale, multiplied by the course's credit hours, and the total is divided by the total hours.
The catch is the failed course. On King Saud University's table every grade is exactly one point lower on the 4.00 scale, F included (1.00 against 0), so subtracting 1 gives the same answer as recalculating. Where F is not one point apart — a university that counts F as 0 on both scales, for example — subtracting 1 is wrong for anyone who has failed a course, and only the course-by-course result is right. Multiplying by 4/5 is wrong in every case.
A percentage has no exact GPA: a mark of 95 and a mark of 100 both earn the same points. A mark is converted by the grade it falls in. A GPA is shown as an approximate mark, on a straight line between the minimum marks of the two nearest grades.
Worked example
3 hours at A+, 3 hours at B and 4 hours at F. On the 5.00 scale: (3 × 5.00 + 3 × 4.00 + 4 × 1.00) ÷ 10 = 3.10. On the 4.00 scale: (3 × 4.00 + 3 × 3.00 + 4 × 0) ÷ 10 = 2.10. Multiplying 3.10 by 4/5 would give 2.48, which is wrong.
The same courses at a university that counts F as 0 on both scales: 2.70 out of 5.00 and 2.10 out of 4.00. Subtracting 1 would give 1.70 — wrong by 0.40.
What is GPA conversion (تحويل المعدل)?
GPA conversion restates a result from one scale in another: 5-point to 4-point, or either to a percentage. There is no single official formula, so this page converts course by course from a published grade table and explains where the two scales treat a failed course differently.

How do I convert a GPA to a percentage?
There is no single official formula. This page converts course by course from a published grade table, which is more accurate than multiplying the GPA by a fixed number.
